Lee Ashworth, Head of People Operations

Lee Ashworth is the founder of ScaleX Consulting, a business management and recruitment company. Lee grew up in South Africa and the UK and graduated from the University of Brighton.
Before starting as a Specialist Recruiter for the life sciences industry, Lee spent six years working for Merck Sharpe and Dohme and Sanofi-Aventis as a Key Account Manager. In 2006, Lee transitioned into the recruitment industry, where he quickly built a name for himself as the ‘go-to’ person for service delivery and attracting talent within the market. Sixteen years on, Lee has worked with most of the major players within the life sciences market and startups/scaleups across the UK and Europe.

When Lee is not supporting his team, he spends time with his family, standup paddleboarding or pushing himself at Crossfit.
Rowan Gibson, Sales & Marketing Consultant

Rowan has over 15 years of commercial experience in Life Sciences and Biotechnology.
With a background in Molecular Virology and a passion for science and technology Rowan moved into sales with roles at leading companies Bio-Rad and Life Technologies. Management and executive leadership roles followed at Covaris and Fluidic Analytics, Congenica and Formulatrix before working in consultancy roles for start-up and scale up companies.
Rowan has a deep understanding of the Genomics and Molecular markets, and has operated in the Proteomic analysis market, with more recent experience in Liquid handing and lab automation.
Experienced and networked across academia, biotech, diagnostic and health-care sectors and with experience of Sales, Marketing, Market Analysis and coaching high performing teams, Rowan provides the expertise to help drive the next stage of your company’s growth.

Steve is an IVD professional with over 40 years of experience across a broad landscape of the diagnostic industry.
His background spans laboratory automation sales, product support (mechanical and applications), distributor support and international marketing.
Steve has been heavily involved in laboratory workflow, laboratory IT solutions and global product launches. He has worked for several global diagnostic companies including Olympus Diagnostics, Beckman Coulter and The Binding Site group, as well a LIMS provider.
During his career he held senior marketing positions including a Global Marketing Manager position for 8 yrs working extremely closely with Customer Services, QARA , Global sales teams and distributors to bring new products to market.

Arlene is an experienced Executive Assistant with experience in Recruitment Resourcing and Client Management since 2015.

Kate Lamb, Health and Safety Specialist

Kate’s career in the Health and Safety industry began over 15 years ago.
She has worked on projects within high-risk industries, including the Channel Tunnel Rail Link and major building sites across London. This experience in rail, construction, civils and utilities has equipped her with a skill set few consultants share, and it is that breadth of knowledge that sets Kate apart from her peers.
She has also worked within various other industries such as Biotech, Media, Fire and Security and the Housing sector, to name but a few. She has assisted many companies in obtaining not only high standards of Health and Safety but also helping them to achieve certification in international standards such as 9001, 14001 and 45001.
Kate is passionate about providing exceptional consultancy services to startups and scaleups, covering all aspects of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental. She listens, evaluates and responds quickly with a simple approach to compliance and accreditation.
